Text recipients
Phone numbers that may later receive a reading and a link to review it. A number has to confirm a code before anything can be sent to it.
Not a safety or emergency system
Texts depend on a background sync and can arrive late or not at all. Do not rely on them for low glucose. Keep using a real-time alarm source, such as Nightscout's own alarms, for anything urgent.
When a text is sent
- At or above 200 mg/dL and rising.
- At or below 70 mg/dL and falling.
- Rising and falling are measured from the change across your recent readings, not from a single trend arrow.
- After a text of one kind, the next of that kind waits 2 hours, unless the reading gets materially worse. Even then, never less than 30 minutes apart.
- Once a reading comes back into range, the next excursion can text you straight away.
- A text states the reading, its trend, and a link to review it. It never suggests what to do about it.
