Terms of Service
Last updated 3 September 2026
These terms cover your use of GlucoseLens, operated by Huckleberry Lane Labs. Using the service means you accept them. If you do not, please do not use it.
What GlucoseLens is
GlucoseLens reads glucose readings from a Nightscout site you already run, lets you record what you ate, and shows you afterwards how your glucose moved around those meals. It is a retrospective review tool. It is currently a private beta, offered free of charge, and it may change or stop working.
It is not a medical device and not medical advice
GlucoseLens is not a medical device, is not approved or cleared by any regulator, and does not provide medical advice. Nothing in the app or in any message it sends is a recommendation to take a dose, make a correction, eat, or start any treatment, and it must not be used to make those decisions. Discuss changes to your diabetes management with your clinician.
The readings shown are those your own Nightscout site reported. We do not verify them, and a sensor, uploader, or connection problem can make them wrong, late, or missing.
Alerts are not a safety system
These texts are not a safety or emergency system. They depend on a background sync that runs every few minutes and can be late, delayed, or skipped, and they may not arrive at all. Do not rely on them for low glucose or any urgent situation. For real-time alarms, use Nightscout's own alarm settings or your CGM's native alerts, which run on your device and do not depend on this app.
By using text alerts, described on the text alerts page, you and anyone you nominate accept that a message may be delayed or may never arrive, and that neither of you will rely on it as a means of detecting a high or low.
Your account
You are responsible for your account and for keeping access to it secure. Do not use anyone else's Nightscout credentials.
You must be at least 13 years old, or have a parent or guardian managing the account for you.
Nominating someone to receive your alerts
Text alerts are built around a person you choose: you nominate someone you trust to help you watch your glucose, and we text them. This is deliberate, and it is the reason the feature exists — but it means you are asking us to send your health information to another person.
You may nominate a number that is not your own, and you should only nominate someone you have actually spoken to. What you must not do is nominate someone who has not agreed to it in conversation with you, or a number you cannot identify. You are confirming that the person is real, reachable at that number, and expecting to hear from us.
You cannot consent on their behalf, and we do not let you. We text the number once, and the person decides for themselves on a page written for them. Until they agree, nothing else is sent. They can stop the messages at any time by replying STOP, without asking you, and you can remove them at any time from your settings.
Your data and your Nightscout site
Your health data remains yours. The Privacy Policy describes what we hold and who receives it. You give us permission to read from the Nightscout site you connect, and to store what we read so that the app can show it back to you.
GlucoseLens can add a carbohydrate entry to your Nightscout site, but only after you have been shown the exact entry and confirmed it. It writes carbohydrates only, never insulin or a dose. You remain responsible for what your Nightscout site contains.
Acceptable use
- Do not use the service to provide clinical care to anyone else.
- Do not attempt to reach another user's data or to bypass the access controls.
- Do not upload photographs of other people, or content you have no right to share.
- Do not use automated means to place unusual load on the service.
Third-party services
The service depends on providers listed in the Privacy Policy, including its hosting, database, photo scanning, and message delivery. Their availability is not within our control, and an outage at one of them can prevent the service, or a message, from working.
No warranty
The service is provided as is and as available, without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, that readings or estimates will be accurate, or that a message will be delivered.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any decision made in reliance on the service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Because the service is provided free of charge during the beta, our total liability to you is limited to any amount you have actually paid us, which is currently nothing.
Ending your use
You may stop at any time. Ask us at servicedesk@huckleberrylanelabs.com to delete your account and we will remove it and the data attached to it. We may suspend or end an account that is being used in a way that breaks these terms or puts other people at risk.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and we will tell you in the app about a significant change. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
